In June 2023, Belgian band Marcel celebrated the chaotic and anarchic charivari while continuing to avoid the so-called “album of maturity,” instead blending the sublime and the ridiculous—a formula that has gained attention across European media and the BBC’s Steve Lamacq. Their second album, “ô fornaiz,” produced by Ben Hampson and recorded in just 10 days in a former bakery near Liège, explores the universal theme of fire in all its forms. Drawing from eclectic influences like The Ex, Nina Hagen, and Swans, the album will be released on March 21, 2025, via Luik Music, Géographie Records, and Modulor Music.
